Shower curtain call (Day 221)…

I love my Ikea PVC-free shower curtain, but it does seem to hold onto water residue more than previous ones have. It’s not particularly pretty to look at, either, so usually I’ll just pull it back before I step out of the tub, then leave it drawn.

But then I realized that it wasn’t drying properly like that, so now I’m going to make sure I pull it back out to let as much water evaporate off it as possible. That way, mildew will be prevented and it won’t need cleaning as often, which means less product used.

A small, perhaps rather insignificant move, but hey — that’s what Sunday’s are all about.

  1. I sprayed the mildew on my shower curtain with vinegar, and voila! It disappeared. You also can toss a plastic curtain or liner in the washer on cold and hang it up to dry if need be. But the vinegar trick was the best.

Everyone has their little household peeves… showercurtains are one of mine. I hate visiting people and showering next to a mildewed curtain. Bathtubs just should not have long ones: they don’t dry, they rest on the floor of the tub collecting grime, and they don’t need to be that long. Why don’t people ever just cut off the bottom??
