You know, I really haven’t minded parting with my hair dryer that much, but there was something about having two feet of wet hair dangling from my head that was just weighing me down. It was time for it to go, so I made an appointment at the salon and got it cut. Like, really cut. Like above my shoulders and barely fits in a ponytail cut.
Less hair means less product being consumed, so my green move today will be to keep my hair short.

Very cute! I love it!
Wow! It look too cute! Your stylist did a great job. Short hair is hard to take care of sometimes, but you can get really creative with styling options. Welcome to the club of the short haired folks ;P
Seriously cute! Now. What happened to the lopped locks? I assume there’s some recycling in their future…
I just drastically cut my hair and donated it to Locks of Love. It’s a great program that makes wigs for children undergoing treatment for cancer.
Do they have Locks of Love in Canada?
I donated my hair to Locks of Love a while back too. I think you just mail it in, so living in Canada shouldn’t be a problem I think.

You just stick your hair in a bag and mail it to the company.
Nice style! I cut mine off recently, for much the same reason except the wet part involved sweat. The best thing about my cut? I can style it with the head-banger technique while damp. Several energetic flips back and forth with my head hanging down and it looks great.
Great cut!!
and of course it was a green salon, right? no paraben laced products….
and water/ energy conservation on site.
please, say it was.
Hey awesome look!
Do you know about the folks who quit using shampoo altogether? It’s the ultimate in green hair…er green haircare. Instead of commercial shampoo, you use stuff like baking soda and vinager, or depending on your hair type, just water.
A member of the “no-poo” livejournal commuity recently said it best:
“The hair care industry is sort of a microcosm for an entire commercial society that has enough power to completely convince us that there are certain products we absolutely can’t live without. There’s something incredibly pleasing about omitting these “necessary” things from our lives and discovering that the results are not just as good, but better than using the product we thought we needed.”
A great summary of how to go “no-poo” is here:

I’ve been really enjoying your blog, and adore the idea of the “reused” stickers.
The new cut looks great…I have short hair also and I love how its mostly low maintenaince and 99% blow dryer free
I don’t know what you’re saying about having hair problems – your hair looks really healthy and nice! I’m jealous!
Looks good! I made my appt. last week and got my hair cut today too. I’m donating my hair to Locks of Love as well.
Get a brushcut like me, you only need a small drop of shampoo and no styling products!
