Whoa! That's big! I'm an addict of Blistex Medicated Lip Balm too. I've been mulling this one over...and think I'll probably go back to Burt's Bees Wax, which I use to be addicted to. All-natural and great! I made the switch to Blistex only after having a hard time finding it (Burt's Bees) years ago...but now it's being sold everywhere. I think you'll find you would continue to use it long after the 365 days pass.

I'm in the Burt's Bees camp here, Vanessa. I like all three of their flavors, but my 15-y.o. daughter doesn't like the smell of peppermint or beeswax (there goes their original and honey), but she took really well to their pomegranate blend. Smells just like cherry chapstick. And she is an addict like no other! LOL!

I have to encourage you to check out http:://www.mylipstuff.com. I've been addicted to these for years...I don't know how people can use Burt's Bees. It's too waxy! My Lip Stuff has a bazillion flavors and they're all natural, no animal testing, all the good stuff. And the texture is a lot nicer and more buttery than most balms.

I've never tried the Blistex stuff, but if tingly is what you're looking for, Burt's Bees is the way to go. (They now have some with sunscreen in it as well.) I've used nothing but Burt's Bees and my favorite lipstick for years. They now have lots of lip colors, too, with the same tingly/minty sensation, and I've purchased two! I have yet to find anything that comes close to my favorite lipstick shade, so for now I'm not giving that up. But head's up - Kiss My Face has a new three-in-one product (lips, cheeks, eyes) that looks pretty and smells *amazing* (think yummy summery mango)!!!!

I used to be really addicted to Carmex, like I HAD to apply it every couple of hours. Now that I don't use it anymore, my lips are chapped much less often.
Recently I found a tube of carmex and used it for a couple of days and experienced the same reoccuring chapped urgency. I immediately switched back and my lips are normal again.
Give yourself a little time to "detox" and get used to the new balm. I definitly think you'll be better off without the carmex.

Hi, Vanessa.

Totally off the current lip balm topic, but definitely on the topic of living green: Oprah's show on Friday was all about the little things we can all start to do to help the planet. Most I'd heard of or already do, but one was pretty clever: limit your drinking vessel (glass/cup/mug/bottle) to one a day. Sounded bizarre to me at first, but then I considered the fact that I run my dishwasher every other day, and the top rack is always filled with nothing but drinking glasses. Do I really need a water glass, a juice glass, a milk glass AND a coffee mug for my breakfast? Could I cut back and end up running the dishwasher half as much? Maybe just once a week? So, this weekend I clamped down and whatever I pulled out of the cabinet first was what I'd use the rest of the day (rinsed in between, of course). Ever have a nice coffee mug of wine in the evening? Ha! It was a little strange, a little bohemian, very much like living as an undergraduate student again, but very much the kind of tangible reminder of change that living a greener life needs in order to thrive.

I love your blog. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.
