As I’ve said before, I love being green but hate to compromise style. This is why, when I ran out of handwash today, I restocked with Method. On the green front: it’s made with naturally derived, biodegradable ingredients, recyclable plastic and isn’t tested on animals. On the style front: it’s designed by slickster Karim Rashid (who, on the local front: also happens to be Canadian! … OK, technically he was born in Cairo … All right, and he may or may not live in New York now … but close enough!).
It retails for around $4, which is pretty reasonable for handwash. I find that it doesn’t lather up that much, but spreads around easily and feels like it’s getting the job done. The people behind the brand are a little kooky — they have this whole “people against dirty” campaign, which creeps me out for some reason — but they seem nice enough.
Best of all, though, is that you can get this stuff everywhere, so no need to go digging in the dusty aisles of that alternative health store with the semi-comatose cat in the front window.
*Update: Jessie Jane has a great comment on this post. “My favorite thing about Method,” she says, “is the story my boyfriend heard the CEO tell at one of their corporate meetings — apparently he came home one day to discover his infant daughter had drunk almost a whole bottle of the surface cleaner (apparently it tastes as good as it smells). They took her to the hospital, but aside from a brief tummy ache she was just fine, no stomach pumping necessary.”

What’s wrong with dust and semi-comatose cats, Vanessa? You just described my household to a “T”! LOL!
I, too, adore Method products. When we decided to go both green & socially responsible, we stocked up on Method and gave all our offensive chemicals to the neighbor’s maids! LOL! We like the Cucumber scent, although Grapefruit is a pretty close 2nd! Their laundry detergent is great, too!
love it- is it at Loblaws?
Not sure — probably. But I know it’s definitely at Shopper’s Drug Mart. They also have dishwash liquid and laundry stuff too, as Lori said.
I love the moist wipes- keep them in my glove box. Very handy to have in the car. And perhaps TMI but we also keep them in the outhouse at the cottage cause you can wipe up any mess (not the mess on your body but elsewhere) and toss them down the tunnel.
Another Method lover here. We use the surface cleaner, the bathroom cleaner, and the hand soap. I just found out that they make a floor cleaner, too, so I need to try and find some.

It’s the perfect example of why it is so important to avoid non-toxic products (not just for the sake of the environment).
pretty snazzy. ive seen this stuff before, but never knew it was a green product. im not that big on soap though, hope that doesn’t make me a hippy, im still pretty clean.
I know it is a late late comment, but I am going through your older blogs and I wanted to comment.
We actually have the Method soap bottle, but not the content anymore. Well, here is what we do. We originally bought the sud pump bottle (comes out as the bubbles of soap, since I have a little one at home). Once it ran out, I found a eco-friendly liquid soap in a compact refill plastic bag. I fill about 20% of the Method bottle with the liquid soap, and the rest with water. That way we save on soap, we don’t end up with the gooey mess that hangs off a lot of the soap bottles.
