In yesterday’s post I wrote about switching my conditioner. Now it’s onto my cat’s hair — which in turn gets onto everything else. Because Sophie has grey fur, it tends to blend in with most things so I can be pretty lazy about picking it off; usually I just suck it up every week with my vacuum.
But when it clings on anything black, it seems to cling extra hard. Until now, I’ve preferred to use those sticky-tape lint rollers that really yoink up each and every last hair. Now, however, I’m switching back to the classic lint brushes, like Evercare’s Magik Lint Brush, which last pretty much forever and don’t contribute any paper waste.
I admit, it’s not as though landfills are overflowing with lint rollers, and there aren’t any lint brush activists marching the streets in protest. But this blog is about making small changes along with big ones, and today, I’m feeling the small.

hey kindred spirit!
awesome website, love your challenge/experiment of trying to do a bit, chipping away, every day…..inspiring others around you to do the same.
and kudos for the anti-disposables/ pro reusables thread, lets keep in touch.
cheers,

Vanessa, let me know how those things work… we have FOUR cats, two of them white and cream-colored. Needless to say, we are constantly wearing a literal “hair shirt!” LOL!
On another eco-note, I’m changing light bulbs today! Woo-hoo!
these brushes are not as good as the sticky tape but they do get off the big pieces so the outfit looks more black. I think the cat needs the brush!

excellent tidbit vanessa. I would of never thought of a lent remover as a green opportunity. now the question is, what can you do with all that cat hair? I am sure somewhere you can donate it to a cat hair furniture or clothing line, maybe not. lol
Lori – I’m excited to see how your lightbulb-changing works out! That’s obviously a step I need to consider, but I’m a little dim (haha) when it comes to figuring out which bulbs are best, and which will fit into my sockets…
Jak – I think there are crazy people out there who actually do knit cat hair into sweaters… pretty gross, if you ask me! Thanks for checking in.
Just be careful on things like wool coats… those non-disposable lint removers can rip them apart! It works okay though, as long as you make sure to not to get over-zealous in your removal of the lint.
Okay, so I’m way behind on this, but at least I’m reading it now!
I have to say I’m loving the progress you’re making each day and the small changes like this one are the important ones.
I’m actually addicted to this blog since receiving it yesterday and can’t wait to finish!
